About Niko:

On an intense search to find an up and coming dressage prospect, Niko came into my life. I started searching for colts in the warmblood area and came up highly unsuccessful. I knew I desperately wanted something that could achieve higher level dressage as I felt as though Scooter was slowing down. While I had Kid alongside Scooter, I knew I wanted one more.

Through my search, I found Gladheart Farm. There they breed magnificent dressage prospects with a proven dressage sire who keeps climbing the levels of the sport. I scheduled a time to visit a little black colt, Gladheart Obsidian, but instead, I looked at both colts they had available which included Niko. Needless to say, I fell head over heels for Niko and bought him the next day. At 6 months old, I brought him home.

While owning a young horse takes a lot of patience, it comes with a beautiful relationship in return. Starting Niko under saddle at 3 was a major accomplishment for me, however I didn’t truly start riding Niko until his 4 year old year (2023). But unfortunately, it took a rapid turn and Niko became slightly dangerous.

While having extensive knowledge in neurological issues, I sought after a vet in Wyoming to test Niko for EPM. After running the tests, Niko came back positive. Completely heartbroken, I knew I desperately needed to treat him with medication and start his rehabilitation.

Niko is now under saddle again and is slowly back to learning proper proprioception for his body. Our plans are to take everything as slow and correct as possible to correct the issues EPM caused.
